Apparently teaching, engineering, and nursing among others are not professions, they’re just “work”. And how about that Harvard MBA, Mitt?
The ‘doge’-ing of education
Actually it’s more Epstein distractions, aside from the destruction of the federal Department of Education.
The U.S. Department of Education is handing off administration of programs like K-12 initiatives, higher education grants, Native American schooling, student parent childcare, foreign medical evaluations, and international language studies to agencies including Labor, Interior, Health and Human Services, and State. Officials say this will streamline operations, reduce administrative costs—now eating up to 47 cents of every education dollar—and better link education to workforce needs amid a shortage of over 700,000 skilled jobs each year. McMahon highlighted empowering local leaders during a planned 50-state tour, while Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer called it a clearer path from classroom to opportunity. Critics like Sen. Raphael Warnock and Rep. James Clyburn worry it will disrupt funding for under-resourced schools and vulnerable kids, potentially harming equity and innovation in areas like civil rights and special education.
