One of the exhibits in the Cowlitz County Historical Museum in Kelso, Washington features Spirit Lake, a popular tourist destination until Mount St. Helens erupted in 1980. Prior to the eruption there were six camps on the shore of Spirit Lake, as well as several lodges, including Spirit Lake Lodge and Mt. St. Helens Lodge.
