I have a problem.
Have you ever seen one of those “hoarder houses”, which are so full of crap that you can barely walk from the door to a chair? Where the stuff piles up and any cleaning is neglected and simply not done?
That’s me.
I am not going to show pictures because I am ashamed of myself for letting this happen. I’ve talked about it in therapy and my therapist told me I had an addiction. One I seem to have inherited from my mother.
Anyway my house was bad. Words cannot describe how bad. My house would be in a textbook definition of “Filth”.
But I started to take steps. I reached out for help, and my brother answered.
This past weekend he ordered a dumpster and came over and we did a purge. We filled the dumpster and there’s still more to finish. And I mean filled the dumpster. And I live in a house about the size of a two bedroom apartment. I knew it was bad, but I didn’t think it was going to be that bad. It was worse than I ever imagined. But I started.
That’s where some of my next steps come. I need to finish the purging and cleaning and then I have to start building the habits and routines to keep my house so.
Now, you might be wondering “How can someone live like that? What’s wrong with them?”
There are many reasons why this happens. I don’t feel like talking about my stuff at the moment, just know that it happens.
So now, as I mentioned, I am taking the next steps and working to finish up what we did. And this is where I need help.
I need more supplies for cleaning. Some specialized cleaning stuff too. I need a new shower curtain, for example. Something so I won’t slip in the shower. Dusting supplies. Trash bags.
And until my raise and stipends from our new CBA come in, the things I’ve already bought and used have put me about $200 over what I have. So I need help to make a couple of bill payments and get those supplies. I don’t want to backslide, as I’m taking the first steps to overcoming my accumulation addiction.
So like I said, I’m about $200 short, and I would like to use the long holiday weekend from school to finish up and start practicing these good habits I wish to start.

Thanks to you all now, and those who have helped me this past year. Things are (knock wood) starting to finally turn in a positive direction, provided I do what I need to do in developing new habits.
But I do have good news. My car insurance premium is going down by a nice bit, and even though my health insurance premiums are going up, it’s only by a minimal amount. Plus my upcoming pay increase once our contract gets ratified will more than cover that.
I’m working hard to have an even balance with the Universe, and one of the next steps is to pay it forward when I can.
