After all, he does wear red… I’ve always thought of him more like a generous old soul who is older than all of the political parties that exist in the world and has seen them come and go. He just goes about his business making kids and people happy around the world for a cause greater than any politics.
I do wish we had some snow by this point in the season. Most of Colorado has had little precipitation so far this season and many areas qualify as being in drought. We keep hoping for any moisture, be it rain, snow, sleet or hail. There has been some moisture in southern Colorado, but many areas of the state rely upon deep snow for their economy both for the ski seasons and for the runoff in the spring and summer that feed the crops. Last year was the first year I remember in my 30+ years in Colorado (though only 7+ actually in Estes Park) that we had bare ground for Christmas. The photo above doesn’t look promising, nor does the forecast of 49 degrees for Thanksgiving with a trace of snow. The elves certainly are positively joyful. Maybe I need to put wheels on the sleigh.
I am certainly proud Jason Crow represents Colorado. His portion of the video reminding soldiers and government employees that they have taken an oath to support the US Constitution and not to follow illegal orders was spot on and it was followed by an equally spot-on statement resisting Trump and his efforts to specifically target those who made the video. Trump’s response was to threaten the Democrats with charges of sedition, the punishment for such a charge would be death. My understanding is that the Pentagon is now toying with the idea of recalling Senator Mark Kelly to active service just so they can court-martial him or take some similar unpleasant retributive action. I don’t live in his district, but if you do, please support him with Representative Crow with your vote and in other ways that you can (door knocking, etc) and we can all make contributions to keep him in office as long as he’d like to continue representing our square state.
A couple of short notes:
You might read a diary on the Indian Boarding Schools that includes information on what happened here in Colorado, and for once it wasn’t written by Meteor Blades who had to go through this hell in Colorado, but it’s part of Colorado’s heritage.
As you board that flight for Thanksgiving travel, keep in mind that last month a United flight from Denver to LA struck a weather balloon at 37,000 feet and shattered the cockpit glass injuring the pilot.
Again, I will be welcoming people to my house for Thanksgiving. There will be four, I hope, for dinner. Maybe more if y’all show up? Send me a Kosmail if you would like to come and I’ll send you directions.
