All my GNRs finish with four words: Truth Matters. Love Matters. However, sometimes I have wondered if that is really true. I mean, I know these principles matter to me, but with all the lies and the hatred gushing over us and the media, I wondered.
Of course, we have always had some people championing truth and love, and we have given examples here.
But, in the past few weeks I have noticed that truth is getting more respect. For example:
- Before the election earlier in the month, RW pollsters predicted that the race for the NJ governorship would be tight. It was not; she won by 14.4% (CNN). Since then they have recalibrated, and that is one of the reasons that the felon’s average polling numbers have dropped so much (Simon Rosenberg, find link to video)
- A huge frustration has been the consolidation of the mainstream media into the hands of ill-meaning oligarchs. However, people have been pushing back and they have been turning to other sources.
- Even Joe Rogan admits the elections were not stolen. ((link))
These are just a few examples. And although I may have noticed them “overnight,” they did not happen overnight. They are the products of hard work and repetition.
Of course, the fight is not over, and we have lots and LOTS of work to do. They will not go without a desperate fight. But, not only do we have the moral high ground, there are way more of us — and they are pushing more people our way every day. To paraphrase GoodNewsRoundup, I am thankful to be in this fight with all of you.

But we are here to read the efforts and the positive results of those (including us and our fellow gnus) who are working so hard to save our country and the planet from those very bad people. Former Republican state legislator Austin Smith pleaded guilty Monday to what he previously called “ludicrous” charges that he personally forged more than 100 signatures on his petitions for reelection last year.
The Republican from Surprise was a member of the far-right Arizona Freedom Caucus, which has a history of spreading false claims of election fraud in the 2020 presidential election and pushed for election law changes in the state legislature.
“As a part of his guilty plea today, Smith admitted signing the name of a deceased woman on one of his candidate nomination petitions in March of 2024,” Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes said in a statement. “He also admitted that he attempted to deceive the Secretary of State’s Office by knowingly filing petitions containing forged signatures of purported supporters of his nomination for the Republican primary for State Representative from LD 29.” ✂️
At the time he was indicted, Smith was strategic director of Turning Point Action, Turning Point USA’s advocacy arm. TPUSA is a far-right organization based in Phoenix that aims to mobilize young conservatives founded by Charlie Kirk, who was shot and killed in September while speaking to a group of college students in Utah.

The report, “Trump, Crypto, and a New Age of Corruption,” documents how the President has used his office to enrich himself and his family—with crypto holdings worth as much as $11.6 billion and income of more than $800 million from the sale of crypto assets in the first half of 2025 alone—while dismantling federal oversight and safeguards that once protected Americans from fraud, scams, and financial exploitation.
Foreign actors and corporate interests have been buying access and favors from the President and his Administration by funneling money into the Trump family’s cryptocurrency ventures and making large, politically motivated donations. In return, these financial backers have received swift returns: regulatory rollbacks, policy giveaways, and the quiet termination of federal investigations into major players in the crypto industry.
The report presents extensive evidence of presidential self-dealing, foreign influence, and obstruction of justice, revealing how the Trump Administration’s crypto policies were designed to advance Trump and his family’s personal financial interests at the expense of the law, ethics, and national security.

🏃 Run for something. If you want to run for something, but have no idea what to do, these people will help you. They also like money and volunteers to help those people who are running, so even if you’re not in a position to stand for office, you can help. In the last year more than 72,000 young people have signed up through Run for Something’s recruitment pipeline. That’s insane!
On election day in November Run For Something candidates smashed it all over the country, winning big in both red districts and blue. They’re a huge part of the reason we saw school boards, town councils, boards of supervisors, city councils, and more flipping blue.
But it gets better! Between the polls closing on November 4 and the morning of November 6, RFS had more than 5,000 new young people sign up to run for office. That number will keep climbing because young people are seeing they can do more than run. They can win. (They’re also really frustrated with the Democratic establishment, as they have every right to be.)
So here’s where it gets exciting: a CWCW reader reached out to me this week and told me she wanted to make a large donation to Run For Something, and would I like to do a matching campaign? Market data and corporate disclosures reviewed by Bloomberg show that the family’s net worth has declined from about $7.7 billion in early September to roughly $6.7 billion, a shift that coincides with significant decreases in the prices of companies, tokens and financial holdings tied to Mr. Trump and his adult sons.
The movements in those assets come during a wider downturn across digital currencies that Bloomberg reports has erased more than $1 trillion in value. The Bloomberg figures reflect the performance of entities in which the Trump family holds equity or token positions, as well as publicly available information about recent valuations.
Yeah, they still have way too much money. But it’s a start.

This was so important! First, let us recognize those who spoke: Senator Mark Kelly (AZ), Senator Elissa Slotkin (MI), Rep Chris DeLuzio (PA), Rep Jason Crow (CO), Rep Maggie Goodlander (NH), and Rep Chrissy Houlahan (PA).
All they did was tell those in the military that they did not need to obey illegal orders. In fact, they are required to disobey illegal orders. These are things those in the military needed to hear. They needed to hear that some in the government have their backs.
In consequence, the felon has called them out to be executed and at least some of them have received death threats. Drunken Pete is threatening to court martial Senator Kelly.
This is important as the felon is invading US cities and considering invading other countries. And ordering the military to blow up drug, fishing, who-knows-what? boats.

After two years of determined effort, Shower the People officially launched in 2017 with a sustainable, completely volunteer-run model that continues to serve the community with compassion, consistency, and genuine human connection. ✂️
With no blueprint but plenty of resolve, Gwen designed the program to be sustainable, flexible, and centered on the people it served. Her approach was simple but profound: meet people where they are, greet them by name, and make every interaction a moment of respect and care. ✂️ ... the need continues to grow. Last month alone, more than 700 guests came for showers, supplies, or referrals.
Each guest receives a clean T‑shirt, underwear, socks, toiletries, a towel and washcloth, and 15 minutes of private hot water. These seemingly small, simple things really deliver a big impact. ✂️

Scientists have identified five major “epochs” of human brain development in one of the most comprehensive studies to date of how neural wiring changes from infancy to old age.
The study, based on the brain scans of nearly 4,000 people aged under one to 90, mapped neural connections and how they evolve during our lives. This revealed five broad phases, split up by four pivotal “turning points” in which brain organisation moves on to a different trajectory, at around the ages of nine, 32, 66 and 83 years.
“Looking back, many of us feel our lives have been characterised by different phases. It turns out that brains also go through these eras,” said Prof Duncan Astle, a researcher in neuroinformatics at Cambridge University and senior author of the study.
The 32 is about right for me. My decision-making certainly improved then.

💙 What You Can Do to Rescue Democracy 💙
It turns out that participation in democracy is not just an every-four-years event but requires active participation, like, whenever you can find time.
I know it’s tough to see the path forward. And I can’t guarantee that there is a path forward. But people who are smarter and braver than I have seen ways to move ahead.
Their (the fascists’) plans really are dark, but many of them are also dumb, in the sense that they don’t make sense. So many of them cannot succeed.
Here are some quick hits.
- Stay involved. Yeah, that’s tough. I want to look away too, but by taking simple actions you can make a difference. Keep contacting your representatives, both in DC and at home.
- Support causes that will fight. Send money if you can. Also, spread their news with clicks and conversation.
- Slow them down. Oppose and block at every turn.
- Make tRump unpopular. Doing this weakens him. And it should not be that difficult. The GOP made a lot out of Biden is old and eggs cost too much. Well, tRump is older than Biden was at the beginning of his term and tRump has no policies that are going to bring down inflation. And a host of other problems, like he’s a convicted felon.
- Divide the GOP from each other. They are a coalition based on contradictory promises, so there’s plenty to work with.
- Keep telling the truth and showing love.
- Make sure to pace yourselves in this marathon and to practice self-care.
