We are home! I wrote this Wednesday after they said they are sending us home. Bill is holding his own, and slowly improving. Sometimes he makes complete sentences that make sense, other times he wasn’t able to tell you his name although the info is in his head and he knows. Today he was able to answer all of them right. He has been smiling at the interplay we both have with his nurses, kind souls that they all have been. It has been a long time since he smiled.
They found a small hole in his heart that may have let a clot through to cause the stroke. They did ultrasounds on his legs to look for clots but found none. He will be referred to cardio for heart repair and a heart monitor. He will have home speech therapy and keeping an eye on when he is able to swallow properly. He is not supposed to eat or drink anything yet. He will also see a neurologist and his primary doctor. We are all glad to be home. Happy Thanksgiving!

As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we are going to check up on you.
