“It’s the economy, stupid!” Heard that around the block a few times. Let’s take control of the economy. WE are the economy. We ARE the economy!
Q: “How do you put a Betamax store out of business?” A: “Stop buying their products!”
There is a boycott on the close horizon, only 4 days away, sponsored by We Ain’t Buying It. I wanted to remind everyone here in case you missed it. Join in the fun and do something positive! I decided to focus this week on something positive we can do this week. Three of the largest retailers are on the “super naughty” list this year, and a boycott was born, from Thursday November 27th through Monday, December 1st, 2025.
This was mentioned earlier in the GNR for Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2025 — Battered and betrayed, but still standing strong article. I felt it deserved a reminder, and for others to see it for the first time.
From the We Ain’t Buying It website:
Target
Target has rolled back their DEI initiatives, which included ending programs that help Black employees advance, cutting financial support for Black-Owned businesses, and removing LGBTQ+ products from their stores.
Amazon
Amazon holds a monopolistic position in the market, contributes to dangerous working conditions for its employees and drivers, and CEO Jeff Bezos has donated over $1 million to this administration.
Home Depot
Home Depot is allowing ICE agents to illegally detain and kidnap laborers from their stores. The laborers in our communities are not able to look for work safely.
Other organizations are partnering. From RVAMAG:
A coalition including No Kings Alliance, 50501 Movement, Indivisible, Black Voters Matter Fund, and Until Freedom is calling for a five-day boycott from Thanksgiving through Cyber Monday. The campaign, titled “We Ain’t Buying It,” urges consumers to avoid three major retailers, Target, Amazon, and Home Depot, and redirect their holiday spending toward small and local businesses instead.
…
This move toward economic action builds on the momentum of the recent No Kings protests, which organizers estimate drew more than seven million people across the country making it one of the largest coordinated demonstrations in recent U.S. history. With engagement that high, shifting from the streets to consumer pressure is a logical next step. When traditional political avenues feel stalled, people often turn to their wallets. “Voting with your dollars” may be cliché, but it’s still one of the few tools that can produce immediate, measurable pressure.
According to a press release from the No Kings Alliance, organizers describe the action as a “coordinated weekend of economic noncooperation,” protesting what they characterize as corporate complicity in policies tied to the Trump administration.

This is getting more press in the past few days, mentioned in mainstream media, and others like Mobilize, CNY Solidarity Coalition and Fast Company. Black Voice News has a more in-depth article about the boycott with Keeping it Real: Why “We Ain’t Buying It”. They begin:
Civil Rights Leader Latasha Brown, co-founder of the national organization Black Voters Matter and the Southern Black Girls and Women’s Consortium, in coalition with others, has called for a massive boycott during the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.
Aptly titled, “We Ain’t Buying It,” the initiative calls on everyone–particularly those in the Black and Brown communities–to take economic action in solidarity aimed at defending democracy and reclaiming community power.
Brown’s call to action is rooted in the belief that America is the wealthiest nation in the world and yet it continues failing in its obligation to care for its citizens. And, yet, the federal government can authorize over a trillion dollars in tax breaks in the coming years to the top 1,000 wealthiest people in the country; was unwilling to supply emergency food stamps to those in need during the government shutdown despite legislation that specifically authorized such payments; and congress has refused to extend healthcare stipends depended on by millions of Americans.

You should read the entire article. It is worth your time to understand how these get organized if that information is important to you!
People’s World also has a great article, and brings up the fact many larger corporations these days own other brands:
In Washington, D.C., two major actions are being planned to publicize the campaign. The first will take place ahead of Thanksgiving. The Free D.C. coalition plans to picket the flagship Whole Foods store, which is owned by Amazon, on Nov. 25. A second protest, featuring national leaders of the campaign, will descent on one of the capital city’s busiest Target stores on Nov. 29.
…
Amazon and Target each donated $1 million to Trump’s inauguration fund, a first for Target. While Target has been a particular target of the African American community due to its immediate rollback of DEI, Amazon also dropped its DEI policies as well as set up contracts with ICE to provide surveillance technology through Amazon Web Services (AWS).
Further, Amazon not only engages in union-busting and deep exploitation against its workers, but also is a key component of the deportation machine and military occupation happening in several cities around the country.
Home Depot has also caught the ire of immigrant rights organizations, particularly in Los Angeles led by the National Day Laborer Organizing Network (NDLON) and the People’s Union due to its lack of protections for day laborers who usually take jobs while staging in Home Depot parking lots around the country. There have been several ICE raids in Home Depot parking lots and inside Home Depot stores, which has put the giant in the crosshairs of the anti-MAGA movement.

Thank you for your attention to this protest! If there are other groups you are involved with, please share the boycott dates. Or, maybe you can hold out through 2025: The last five days of the season accounted for 10% of the spending. [2024] Don’t forget YOU CAN BOYCOTT ALL THREE FOREVER!
There are, of course, other corporations I had previously boycotted. Amazon was already on our list since late 2024 (I know, very late!). I have also personally boycotted Starbucks for 25+ years at this point, ever since they drove out a promised indoor spot for the young couple with an outdoor cart. Once again, money corrupts! This was the classic “Money talks and good people walked.” Are there other corporations you already boycott? Please share in the comments the names of other corporations you might already boycott, and why!
SOLIDARITY!!
