I thought I was way past being shocked by anything Trump does, but this story that broke yesterday will go down in history — and not in a good way.
First, we have a bipartisan group of senators saying that they were told by Marco Rubio that the plan came from Moscow, not Washington.
But wait!
Rubio says those senators — including Mike Rounds of South Dakota — are lying, without using the actual word.
And the State Department spokesman.
x
The absurdity of the 28 point paper gets another twist.
US State Deputy Spokesman Tommy Pigott called the bipartisan group of US Senators, including Republican Senator Mike Rounds, liars.
This US administration has completely lost its plot, if it ever existed. Total chaos.

Well, either the State Department is lying or Rounds is.

Republican Senator Mike Rounds:
"Rubio did make a phone call to us this afternoon and he made it very clear to us that we are the recipients of a proposal that was delivered to one of our representatives. It is not our recommendation, it is not our peace plan.”

So how did this mess unfold?
x
It appears that somebody instructed Marco Rubio to go along with the story unfolding and it looks to me that this resulted from the following chain of events. I will lay it out here:

The 28-point surrender plan was leaked by Dmitriev. That’s when things started to spin out of control.
The intent followed two objectives. First, maximalist wishlist of the Russian should be engraved cognitively in media sphere for everyone before any pushback occurred. Two, it should test the US government how it would react to the backlash which will inevitably follow.
Rubio unaware of the contents of the talks was then confronted by a bipartisan group of US Senators and gave them his answer, which at this moment was truthful.
The senators then went public quoting Rubio: “It is not our recommendation, it is not our peace plan.”
At this point the US officials in the Trump administration must have started to realize that something is going wrong. As intended the leak totally blind-sided them. They completely lost control of the situation, but grudgingly decided to go along with it.
Rubio was then compelled to go public and claim that it was indeed the plan, while watering down that it yet just the Russian side, with some previous input from Ukrainian side.
….
This whole episode reveals that the current US negotiating team is completely out of its depth and that people involved in this „negotiations“ are absolute amateurs to say the least.
And now there are more talks.
Can someone please call the circus and tell them they can pick up their missing clowns in Switzerland?
Here is a 24-point plan that Europeans have drawn up:
Trump is furious that Ukraine hasn’t expressed gratitude for his plan for their surrender.
Witkoff reportedly spent months working on the 28-point plan with Dmitriev, has almost no understanding of the Ukrainian position and has worked to undermine those in the White House who are less enthusiastic about kissing Putin’s ass than he is.
Witkoff needs to be dismissed immediately.
This plan has already detonated like a Russian ammo dump meeting a HIMARS rocket. Typically when fuck ups as colossal as this one occur, heads roll.

U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff — a real estate mogul with no diplomatic background before his appointment — has emerged as one of the central architects of a new Washington peace proposal that Ukrainian officials say revives the Kremlin's most sweeping demands.

Witkoff's close coordination with Dmitriev points to a deeper internal struggle in Washington.
According to a source familiar with the power dynamics, Witkoff is running a broader operation with Dmitriev, trying to sideline the pro-Ukraine voices in the Trumpadministration.
One of the people responsible for communications for the White House is seen as "one of Witkoff's people," feeding media talking points favorable to Witkoff and his Russia-friendly approach, a source familiar with the matter said.
The White House right now is a mess of competing factions, each trying to present their version of events as the official administration line, the source told the Kyiv Independent.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said on Nov. 21 that Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Witkoff have been developing the peace plan together during the past month.
She said both have been "engaged with both sides" and that the president backs the effort. But a source familiar with the matter told the Kyiv Independent that Rubio — who once openly called Putin a "war criminal" — had no involvement in crafting the new plan.
According to a high-ranking U.S. official who spoke on conditions of anonymity, the current plan is supported by U.S. Vice President JD Vance, while other top U.S. officials were cut out of the negotiations process.
