Trump Embraces Democrats' ACA Extension after causing a shutdown to end it. Trump is expected to propose Two-Year ACA Subsidy Extension as people are about to lose their healthcare. But his version has strings attached (income limits, premium payments, possible HSA tie-ins) to satisfy his MAGA conservative demands.

Trump isn’t “embracing” anything. He’s hijacking a Democratic plan so he can pretend he’s helping while gutting it.

Trump’s “plan” to extend the ACA subsidies is basically him pretending to embrace a Democrat idea while loading it up with his own demands that screw people over.

First, he wants an income cap — about 700% of the poverty level. Translation: he’s cutting people off who currently qualify so he can brag about “saving money.”

Then he wants to force everyone to pay something every month. No more $0 plans. That hits low-income people the hardest, but he doesn’t care.

He also wants the government to send the money to people directly instead of using the ACA system. Sounds nice, but what he really wants is to push people into cheap, crappy plans and dump the rest into HSAs so he can say, “Look, free money.” Meanwhile, your coverage gets worse.

And of course, he’s expanding catastrophic plans — high-deductible, low-quality plans that only work if you never get sick. Great for insurers, horrible if you actually end up in the hospital.

Basically, he’s pretendng to “extend” ACA help, but only for two years and only under rules that make coverage skimpier and the market shakier. He gets to say he did something helpful, while gutting it at the same time.

His demands basically mean:
• Fewer people qualify.
• Everyone pays more.
• Cheaper, crappier plans pushed on people.
• Only a 2-year Band-Aid he can rip off later.

He’s calling it an extension, but it’s really a downgrade. The idiot took a good idea, slapped his name on it, and hollowed it out. Classic Trump Crap.
