Sorry, you can’t be a billionaire, or at least a millionaire. But thanks to FanDuel Casino, you can be the next best thing: a “thrillionaire.” That’s a word ad agency Orchard Creative invented to market FanDuel Casino in commercials on television that have been airing for the past few months.
Saving up money is boring. Investing in the stock market is a little more exciting, but not as exciting as the thrill of the possibility of losing all of your money just because you were dealt an unfavorable card at a virtual casino table.
Prior to researching this article, I had only seen the ads on TV. But according to Yogonet Gaming News, the ad campaign, which started back in June of this year, is not limited to TV.
Dubbed “Calling All Thrillionaires,”the initiative debuted this week [first week of July 2025] across multiple channels, including television, digital, social media, radio, and outdoor advertising.
The campaign aims to highlight the entertainment experience itself rather than simply promotional offers. The first wave of ads zeroes in on the excitement of FanDuel Casino Jackpots and will run in major markets such as New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Michigan.
“At FanDuel Casino, we believe the real magic lies in the thrill of possibility,” said Daniele Phillips, Vice President of Marketing at FanDuel Casino.
“Our newest campaign, ‘Calling All Thrillionaires,’ celebrates the enjoyment of anticipation within our new FanDuel Jackpots experience. The campaign builds upon our key brand values to always provide our players with fun, responsible, and exciting experiences on FanDuel Casino.”
I’m guessing the word “responsible” was not uttered at the same dynamics as “fun” and “exciting.”
Most of the ads I’ve seen show an individual whose house is strange in some way, because the homeowner is pursuing thrills at all costs. A white woman replaced all the seats in her house with mechanical bulls, because, you know, thrills. A black man made his primary residence into a haunted house. Man, these thrillionaires must be non-conformists.
But the most visually fascinating ad for the online casino instead celebrates conformity, with dozens of people on a single tandem bicycle traversing a scenic road in the middle of nowhere to go somewhere that must be very exciting.
The ad I’ve been seeing on TV is probably the 30-second version. The full minute version starts before we see the lead rider of the tandem bike. It has a catchy song, but I suggest you spend a little time thinking about the deeper meaning of this ad before you decide you want to become a thrillionaire like the people in the ad.
Just how FanDuel wants you. Voluntarily queuing up in a line to your own perdition.
