First, some good news. Doug Jones, making it official.
x
Right on!
Alabama finally has someone ready to fight for the Alabama instead of letting Tuberville, a non-resident drifter, run his mouth from Florida.
Doug is stepping in with actual roots, actual plans, and an actual stake in the future of the state.

Operation Midway Blitz in Chicago.
x
U.S. Magistrate Judge Gabriel Fuentes, in dismissing Midway Blitz-related charges against Dana Briggs last week, said he was lifting restrictions on relevant video.
Today he made the video available through the clerk's office at no cost to the public. Here's the first.

From the article, which posted last week. 'Unusual and possibly unprecedented’: Judge calls out Chicago feds as Midway Blitz cases fall apart. chicago.suntimes.com/...
Prosecutors have dropped charges against all five people charged in connection with Sept. 27 protests at the immigration holding facility in west suburban Broadview.
These “are not ordinary times at the Everett McKinley Dirksen United States Courthouse” in Chicago’s Loop.
U.S. Magistrate Judge Gabriel Fuentes made that point Thursday, as he closed the book on the last of five now-dismissed prosecutions tied to September protests outside a federal immigration holding facility in the western suburbs.
Fuentes used a nine-page opinion not only to dismiss, with prejudice, a misdemeanor charge against Dana Briggs, but to highlight how each of those five cases, all tied to Operation Midway Blitz, “were highly unusual in this district for several reasons.”

More on the Broadview Detention Center.
x
Today, after months of requests, I toured the Broadview ICE Processing Facility. I want to share what I saw.
The facility has no food vendor, no medical care, and detainees have to use toilets in the middle of shared cells. These are in no way suitable conditions to be holding anyone — period.

ICE in Charlotte.
ICE video shows officers planned to ‘smash’ into Charlotte man filming Border Patrol. www.charlotteobserver.com/…
A federal judge is determining if federal officers had probable cause to charge Miguel Angel Garcia Martinez, a U.S. citizen, with assault. Martinez fled from officers who started chasing him while he documented Border Patrol operations in Charlotte. Court video showed ICE agents, who allegedly had a 12-pack of Modelo in their car, planned to "smash" into Martinez's vehicle during the chase. By Charlotte federal court filing

With important peace talks underway in Europe, the Trump admin sent the Army Secretary to represent the Pentagon since they can t trust unserious Hegseth not to embarrass them with his daily dipshittery. So they kept him home to threaten Mark Kelly with a court martial.

The “I have more medals” and “I’ve seen more combat than you” MAGA bro responses to Mark Kelly’s post most are the most pathetically hilarious things on social media today, aside from Candace Owens claiming that Macron ordered a hit on her by French legionnaires.

Gallego to Hegseth: "You will never ever be half the man that Sen. Kelly is. You, sir, are a coward. And the fact that you are following this order from the president shows how big of a coward you are. I can't wait until you are no longer the secretary of defense."

BREAKING: This is huge news, the EU's equivalent of the 🇺🇸Supreme Court's 2015 Obergefell v. Hodges ruling.
🇪🇺Court of Justice just ruled all 🇪🇺countries must recognise same-sex marriages granted in other member states.
This effectively legalises gay marriage across 🇪🇺

NEW: The criminal cases against James Comey and Letitia James are gone … for now. A look at the loose ends and questions that remain after a judge tossed the indictments and declared the lead prosecutor to be illegitimate.

Lindsey Halligan is disqualified — but there are major questions about what comes next. www.politico.com/…
The criminal cases against former FBI Director James Comey and New York Attorney General Letitia James are gone — for now. But a federal judge’s decision to dismiss the indictments and eject the lead prosecutor, Lindsey Halligan, raises a long list of questions about what comes next.
U.S. District Judge Cameron Currie concluded that Halligan’s appointment by Attorney General Pam Bondi to lead the federal prosecutors’ office in the Eastern District of Virginia was illegal. And because Halligan was the only prosecutor to sign off on the Comey and James prosecutions, Currie ruled that the cases must be dismissed.
✂️
But Currie also left a window for prosecutors to try again. And Comey made clear in a video that he expects to be targeted anew by Trump and his allies at DOJ.
Here’s a look at the most pertinent questions following the dismissal of the two politically charged cases and what might come next.
The rest of the article goes into some detail. I encourage you to read it for yourself.

I'm with Senator Whitehouse!
MIke Flynn has thoughts. Considering he's suing the US government for reparations (yes, I chose that word on purpose), maybe he thinks The Kraken will give him a better offer.

On tonight’s episode: Pam Bondi lunges at Lindsey Halligan: "You ruined my James Comey revenge!" Halligan yells, “You were the idiot who let the statute of limitations run!” A drunk Jeanine Pirro pushes them apart. Pam snarls at Pirro: “I’m not through with you, Miss Can’t Get a Fucken Indictment!”

Seriously, what other president is even remotely in his league?
There was corruption in the Grant and Harding administrations, but the presidents were largely uninvolved. Nixon committed crimes in secret but didn't really line his own pockets.
Trump is like a Thomas Nast cartoon come to life.

Thomas Nast (/næst/; German: [nast]; September 26, 1840[2] – December 7, 1902) was a German-born American caricaturist and editorial cartoonist often considered to be the "Father of the American Cartoon".[3]
He was a sharp critic of "Boss" Tweed and the Tammany Hall Democratic Party political machine. He created a modern version of Santa Claus (based on the traditional German figures of Saint Nicholas and Weihnachtsmann) and the political symbol of the elephant for the Republican Party (GOP). Contrary to popular belief, Nast did not create Uncle Sam (the male personification of the United States Federal Government), Columbia (the female personification of American values), or the Democratic donkey,[4] although he did popularize those symbols through his artwork. Nast was associated with the magazine Harper's Weekly from 1859 to 1860 and from 1862 until 1886. Nast's influence was so widespread that Theodore Roosevelt once said, "Thomas Nast was our best teacher." en.wikipedia.org/..=

Evening Shade Seekers! Happy National Parfait Day!
Happy National Play With Dad Day!
Happy National Blasé Day!
On Blasé Day, people can give themselves permission to be blasé toward just about anything.
The word “blasé” seems to be of French origin, meaning to be indifferent or bored with life, unimpressed, or as if from an excess of worldly pleasures. So, the idea is that people in today’s modern world have had so many interesting and amazing experiences, that they are hardly enthused – because they’ve seen it all before and there is just nothing to get excited about.
The good news about being blasé? Nothing can really be upsetting either. No reason to get those undies in a bunch when getting a bad grade on a report card or even getting fired! Just roll with the punches and move forward with apathy because it is time for Blasé Day!
Embrace your inner ennui!
Or go adventure! Happy Bosnia and Herzegovina Statehood Day!
Happy National Gazpacho Day!
Happy Burthday Ben Stein (b. 1944)
Happy Birthday John Larroquette (b. 1947)
(Side note, The Practice was a wonderfully underrated show, if you're looking for inspiration. This episode in particular - the twist at the end - is brilliant!).
Tomorrow is National Jukebox Day AND National Cake Day!
