Breaking: Another GOPed House Member Announces Retirement

I don’t have much as this is breaking news.

The suspicion that other Republican lawmakers might follow MAGA firebrand Rep. Marjorie Taylor-Greene out of Congress appears to have some foundation. U.S. Rep. Troy Nehls (R-Texas) announced on Saturday that he is retiring from Congress roughly one week after Greene’s own announcement that she was abandoning her seat in January.

“Before making this decision, I called President Trump personally to let him know of my plans. President Trump has always been a strong ally for our district and a true friend, and I wanted him to hear it from me first,” Nehls posted on X.

It looks like the flood gates could be opening. It’s not a good look when the Speaker has to admit he’s over his head.

Republicans have complained that they are expected to act as Trump’s congressional rubberstamp and are resenting retaliation from the White House if they disagree with him.

I guess they’re finding out it’s not much fun backing an unpopular loser, especially when they can’t run away from his lies without consequences. Nehls was always an unctuous MAGA tool, so this is addition by subtraction. The MAGA Movement is falling apart.
